Hey there Celeste players! We are bringing you another community contest. This time, you will be helping us redesign Chieftain Combutis - an Age II Advisor. Why does this Advisor need a redesign, you ask? It is because he has the exact same effect as Odysseus, an Age I Advisor, awarded to all players when they defeat him in the Skirmish Hall.

Since the previous reworks for the Advisors have been very well received, we are open to more reworks for remaining not-so-useful Advisors such as this one.

If you have any suggestions for how this Advisor should be changed, let us know in the comments section below!

If you need some examples, you can see how the other Advisors have been reworked HERE

You can also find a list of all current Advisors HERE (Remember to change the text in the search field as you see fit.)

Remember, the contest will end on March 1st, 2020. So make sure to submit your entry before then! Don't forget to include your in-game name in your entry post!

We're excited to see what ideas you guys come up with!

PF2K's personal note: I'd much prefer to keep this guy in Age II so ideally you shouldn't move him across the Ages. This doesn't mean he can't work on other ages, though! However, I'd say Age IV is a definite no.

Sample Post:

In-game name: RandomBob69

Suggested change: Increase infantry's Bonus Damage Protection by 25%

Reason for this change: We already have an Advisor to boost infantry's Health and Training Time, but none to give them extra Bonus Damage Protection. This will fill the gap and allow for newer Advisor setups, especially for the more infantry-heavy civilizations.

In-game name: Taz

Suggested change: Increase Infantry critical hit chance by 12% and increase infantry movement speed by 20%

Reason for this change: some infantry units are already tanky but are very very slow (champs, chiefs) this would help them clear through leg quests faster. Crit% is just an extra bonus to further give further incentive to use it over Dumniorx. The movement speed increase would make champs a more viable option on quests where time is important since most people use woads when it comes to that.

Cheers!

IGN: Zay36

Suggested change: Stables cost 25% less.

Reason for this change:
since we have Age 1 barracks cost why not get an age 2 stable cost advisor?
or maybe stables and archery ranges?

IGN: Honz

Suggested change: All units cost -10% less wood

Reason for this change: There are advisors for food and gold costs so there is one missing to make them a full set. Maybe the strength of the effect should be higher, though (as well as the other advidor's effects..)

In-game name: achan1337

Suggested change: Stable units deal 50% bonus damage to buildings.

Reason for this change: We already have one for infantry and one for ranged, but none for stable. Any advisor hoping to compete against Dumn-OP with either need to boost max pop strength, or be even more OP economically.

Also I would suggest to redesign some old legendary items as well...

Like:
  • Tools of Weyland (maybe more suitable for Engeneers?)
  • Jewel-Covered Scepter
  • Boudicca's Battle Markings (Maybe more suitable for Galic horseman?)
  • Beams of Khnum
  • Javelin of the Sky
  • Swift Torc
  • Artisan Belly Bow
  • Enduring War Horn
  • Oil Bags of War
Those are items, which usually are vendored.

In-game name: Aman

Suggested change: Infantry and cavalry units pillage; whenever they kill a unit or destroy a building you gain some gold (see below).

Advisor Suggestion.jpg

Reason for this change: Many ideas for an advisor, but this one kinda has a certain art to him that screams "I do stuff to buildings". So instead of finding ways to buff that, why not alter the art a bit and boom! An original barbarian plunderer!
Humor aside, Dumno has a monopoly because of his economic power, and most quests end up being the same - hoard resources, train villagers and caravans, make defenses, then attack. With this pillage mechanic you could send out raids and be rewarded from earlier aggressive plays - while also compensated for good defenses.

In-Game: bmsk:
Military buildings cost less: 25, 15, 10, 5%.
And train units faster: 10, 7.5, 5, 2.5%

well I have few ideas
1. Buildings have more health (up to 10% maybe)
2. Cheaper Siege units (up to 10%?), move to Age III

Reason: from the his image I would think about someone who works with buildings or siege, option 1 would bring some defensive option on quests where you can t build walls, option 2 would be another choice to compete with Ligeia, where choose to get siege faster or cheaper.

Barraks, archery and cavalry buildindgs costs 50% less and builds 50% faster (the epic version) others 40% 30% 20%....

IGN: Darkrage

Chieftain Combutis:
Infantry Units cost 10/15/20/25% Less and Train 5/10/15/20% faster

Reason: I feel early infantry units needs an upgrade and this change would also push for more aggressive playstyle. This change will be a more permanent effect since this can help the player in later ages on too, there are a lot of defensive and passive advisors in age 2 but not enough aggressive ones. An example of how this playout, if Greek had this at epic level they could have this advisor to slightly counter the egyptions in the speed and cost of production, i also feel like this would be a very useful advisor in legendary quests since it gives players a great way to produce units much faster to fight against the hordes of enemies which come really quick. To balance the advisor, infantry is affected source.

Chieftain Combutis finds a wonderful technique to train units much more efficiently while keeping the cost low, new upgrades to the barracks made a difference!

In-game name: Faluzure

Suggested change: Infantry units have a 10, 15, 20, 25% chance of causing Fear/Chaos (suitable resistances apply)

Reason for this change: I did some research on this guy. There's very little known about him. However, from HERE we see he worked with Brennos, so I felt it should apply to the same kind of units, and given he was Barracks related it doesn't stray too far from what he effected before. Instead of just Barracks units, though, make it all infantry, since some Civs have key infantry units not produced by a Barracks (Immortals etc.)
Also, HERE and HERE it talks about the things he did when he Invaded Aetolia and attacked the Kallians committing certain atrocities. I think it would be fitting that he sow fear and chaos in enemies if he's advising the army.

In game Name: DynasticPlanet
Chieftain Combutus: Buildings and/or boats Regenerate 2/3/4/5 HP per second and have 5/10/15/20% crush armor.

Reason: Regen on buildings is completely unused in its entirety and buildings are going to take a ton of abuse especially with all the bonus vs building damage flying around. Even if it were 5x stronger elites will tear through your walls and eat your economy hidden within. For boats it’s also valuable as well though less universally amazing.

Crush armor is also nice to have.

I would like to see something for inflantry only.
Age2, something that's not power creep in pf2k's eyes.. :D greetz.

Suggested change: All upgrades cost 100% less gold but 50% more wood
Reason: Might be usefull on quests where you cant use markets like Recapturing Ledrai, since there is always plenty of wood, and its harder to get gold. And since this will replace Dumnorix it is aggain a little harder to get alot of gold for expensive upgrades so you can use wood instead.

In-game name: Mandy

Suggested change: Villagers deal 125% bonus damage against buildings
Suggested change 2 (I can do this, right?): Villagers repair buildings 100% faster

Reason for this change: slight alternative to siege units that is cheaper and availible earlier that adds more roles to the villager besides gathering/building. Also something that would actually fit with the look of the advisor

IGN: THULSADOOM

Suggested change on Chieftain Combutis:

Historically, Combutis and Orestorius was given 40 000 footmen and 800 horses from Brennus to invade Ætolia (The Description of Greece - Pausanias - Google Books). Maybe then he could have:

From age 2, one horseman and two long swordsman are spawned every 5/10/15/20 min from each owned town center.

(Spawning begins at age 2 as this is an age 2 advisor).
I guess the reason is to quickly gain (or be given from Brennus) an additional army to use for invasion or home-defense while paid armies attack. Also this would be an different addition to the game and some defenses for the Celts aswell.

Suggested change: Infantry/Barracks units Recover 2.5%/5%/7.5%/10% HP with each kill or Infantry/Barracks units Activate Self heal for 4/8/12/16 seconds after a kill

Reason for this change: There are rumors that the troops under Combutis charge drank blood from the defeated population of Callieas and eat the meat of their bodies (... i know dark, right?). Could be very useful for small groups of strong units or rushes
