I generated a report with powershell too. I had to look up how to do it, so if there is a way to cast a wider net with these reports I am open to direction.

There are definitely more installed programs, but that is all the report had in it

Strange. Try this command (In an admin command prompt)

wmic /output:C:\InstallList.txt product get name,version

then send me InstallList.txt. (It'll be in C:\)

As requested, here is the file.

It looks like the same list as the first report, with a version column.

Here is a text of the report I produced with powershell (the one I pasted above). It appears to have more items listed, but still does not show steam-games etc.

Your help is much appreciated. I am out of my depth here, but will stay the course. I would like to figure this problem out.

It is weird that it wouldnt show everything. But it's ok. In the lists of programs the only one I saw that Im unsure if it'd cause issues was "Spybot Anti-Beacon". Maybe try uninstalling that temporarily and see if it has any benefit.

did you tried to use another language in game like french or other to see if the issue is the same?

I tried uninstalling Spybot Anti-beacon, as you suggested. No effect.

I tried switching the language. No effect.

Man. :/

You said a while back that it works in safe mode. So it has to be something like 3rd-party software, or some kind of user-related setting.
Just gotta figure out what it is.

I would stop running battle.net and blizzard. It could be their Warden anti-cheat software. I had a similar issue in other games when it was running in the background. I am not sure why Blizz came out with their Warden software. It shows up as a virus everytime I start up battle.net.

"It shows up as a virus" - What does? AOEO? But yeah, try making sure that this "Warden" thing is not running.

Sorry for the slow response. real life encroaches on gaming sometimes.
I will keep at this until it is solved.

I have not run Blizzard programs at the same time as attempting AOEO. Will I need to uninstall them all to properly test if it is conflicting?

Do you know what warden show up as in Task manager?

I'll try manually ensuring it is not running in the background before I go uninstalling such a big program. If that doesn't work, I guess uninstalling blizzard is the next thing to check.

No problem, I understand

Im not sure what warden's process is in the task manager, sorry. But to fully rule out the blizzard stuff, you could try uninstalling if you are ok with that, otherwise, just make sure that warden isnt running.

Here we go:
- I did a full uninstall on all the Blizzard software.
- I uninstalled AOEO.
- While doing that I realized that there was still a steam version of AOEO installed. I had uninstalled through Steam, but it was still listed under "Programs & Features" list. So I uninstalled that too.
- I cleaned up all the left over files I could, both in Programs(86) and in Documents & deleted all the folders related to AOEO that I could find.
- restarted
- re-installed AOEO from downloaded file (NOT Steam)
- copied the Celeste files into the "AGE of Empires Online" folder. (admin authorize it to overwrite files)
- created a desktop shortcut for Celeste_Launcher_GUI.exe (& set it to run as admin)
- opened Celeste with shortcut
- updated Celeste
- Ran "Game Scan" (it flashed that a few files were fixed)
- restarted computer
- opened Celeste with shortcut again
- Paused my virus protection and firewall
- hit "Play" button

No change :(
The program still shows no text.

Also: When I finally hit play, a pop-up told me the program could not detect my hardware. I told it to proceed anyway. Sorry, I didn't note down the exact wording.

Try this:

1. Run regedit (you should be able to find it from Windows search)
2. Navigate to "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\GRE_Initialize"
3. Add Key "DisableFontBootCache" and set value to "1" (to create a key, right-click on/inside the folder and select New -> Key)
4. Reboot and all should be well

Man... And if I remember, it worked in safe mode, correct? Also, you ccan try what @Forest has suggested too. If that doesnt fix the issue, I suggest you undo the registry edit.

I tried your suggestion Forest. There was no change.

I have only used regedit a few times so I am not certain I got it exactly correct.

The GRE_initialize folder has a REG_SZ file named "(default)", & three REG_DWORD files named "DisableRemoteFontBootCache", "LastBootTimeFontCacheState", & "ServiceStackModifiedFonts".

Also in the GRE_Initialize folder (key?) there are two folders (keys?): "LargeFont" an "SmallFont", each with several Reg_SZ files therein.

Following your instructions, I ended up adding another folder within the GRE_Initialize folder. It is named, as you instructed, "DisableFontBootCache". Within the new folder there is a Reg_SZ file named (default). I right-clicked > Modify > changed "Value Data" from 0 to 1

That was the only thing/file in the new "DisableFontBootCache" that I created.

Does that sound correct?

I reinstalled and ran the Game Editor. It still works A-okay.

Since the Game Editor is performing properly, can we compare it to the main game somehow? I mean which files control the fonts in the games? Perhaps I can compare/edit/graft the settings or entire files from the editor to the main game.

I am no expert, but if one program works when the other does not it seems a good place to find clues.

Again, thank you for any and all assistance.

Sorry this was missleading. Try to add a DWORD (32-bit) to the "key" Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\GRE_Initialize:

Don't forget to restart your PC afterwards.

Thanks Forest. That makes sense and the picture helped. I know it is sometimes hard to know what people don't know.

Here is what I ended up with:

I have the additional file "LastBootTimeFontCacheState" as you can see. Is it perhaps relevant?

I restarted the computer, launched the game again, and :( the game is still without text.
