REWORKS
============
War_Leader_Beorix.png
  • Development Team's Comment: The previous effect of Beorix did not seem very popular, so, once again, we are trying something new. Harjars will now be able to deal poison damage over time, which should hopefully bring them under the spotlight for the first time.
Horselord_Finnulfr.png

Development Team's Comment:
With this advisor, Horsemen have become one of the best options for the Norse, to the point where they tend to outshine every other Norse unit thanks to their extreme mobility, population efficiency and their ability to take down buildings on their own quite effortlessly. With this change we hope to bring Horselord Finnulfr closer to the level of the other Norse options, to increase gameplay variety.

Amunet_the_Wise.png

Development Team's Comment:
Priestesses of Ra have always had a relatively marginal role in the gameplay of Egyptian players, despite being very useful and versatile units. With this change, we hope to make the support of Priestesses of Ra more effective and incentivize players to experiment more with this unique Egyptian unit.

Princess_Tahmineh.png

Development Team's Comment:
Princess Tahmineh was not a very popular advisor in the Silver Age, since, to fully benefit from her economical bonus, the player is required to place their market very precisely. With the addition of Coinage and Price Adjusting being granted for free, Princess Tahmineh should now be a solid pick for a Caravan-focused economy.

Governor_Zopyrus.png

Development Team's Comment:
Sappers are rarely seen in the army composition of Babylonian players. One reason for that might be that having to choose between Governor Zopyrus and Cowardly Colonel Pamphilos as your Silver Age Advisor felt like you could never bring sappers to their full potential. Now you don’t have to choose anymore, as you can have both advisors to help your Sappers in combat!

Senator_Octavius.png

Development Team's Comment:
Thinking about new advisors for the Romans gave us the chance to make some adjustments to the ones that were announced on a previous blog. Senator Octavius will still focus on the Auxilia Camp units, but we decided to change the damage bonus to a training time bonus, because the Romans already have plenty of advisors improving their units in combat.

Infantry_Sergeant_Herakleides.png

Archer_Sergeant_Timon.png

Cavalry_Sergeant_Hermolaos.png

Development Team's Comment: With these changes we are trying to increase the amount of viable Advisors competing with the current popular economic advisors that most players like to stick to in the Bronze Age (Chieftain Dumnorix, Savvy Merchant Zeno, King Nannus and others).

Chieftain_Combutis.png

Development Team's Comment: The previous cost reduction value did not seem to be impactful enough to make players consider using Chieftain Combutis very much. We are increasing his bonus by a little bit to make him more appealing.

Commander_Vercassivellaunos.png

Development Team's Comment: When it comes to infantry-based armies, players know very well that hardly any advisor can rival Cowardly Colonel Pamphilos in the hardest quests. We are therefore trying to increase the number of viable options by buffing some of the potential alternatives to Pamphilos.

Chieftain_Britomartus.png

Development Team's Comment: The bonuses Chieftain Britomartus provided for Town Centers were mainly defensive and fell a bit short when it came to kickstarting the player’s economy at the start of a quest. The additional resource savings should have a positive impact on the viability of this Advisor.

Engineer_Ligeia.png

Development Team's Comment: We felt like the bonus provided by Engineer Ligeia did not compare well enough to the other Silver Age advisors. The newly added cost reduction should help players who like to mix some siege units into their army. To ensure that his power level doesn't spike up too much, we dialed down his training time reduction a little bit.

Fence_Builder_Bes.png

Development Team's Comment: The simultaneous presence of two advisors dedicated to walls in the Bronze Age and the fact that neither option seemed very relevant, made us decide to bring their effects together to a single advisor, focused entirely on walls. Fence Builder Bes will from now on also provide the previous bonus of Engineer Cyric.

Engineer_Cyric.png

Development Team's Comment: With the change to Fence Builder Bes, we had to find a new effect for Engineer Cyric. Since we wanted to keep him relevant to the gameplay of Crete, we opted for a bonus on the repair rate of Villagers and Engineers.

Castle_Builder_Sostrate.png

Development Team's Comment: With this change we hope to allow players to be more creative with the use of defensive buildings during quests. Considering how many new options are being added and how many improvements have been made to old Advisors, we are also trying to make sure that no Advisor from the original set is left behind.

Commander_Bolgios.png

Development Team's Comment: See “Castle Builder Sostrate”.

You can also use Lord Eochaid Muhigmedon as well which provides a very helpful discount in those quests. I think he's super useful

Unless it was changed recently, Lord Eochaid neither provides a gold reduction nor a training time reduction in those. I have tested and found out to my disappointment that he does nothing.

The only cost reduction Advisors that worked in the Conquest/Defense quests are Amunet, as mentioned, as well as Socrates, and only for the research.

New gear recently released can decrease the cost so her old effect is not that important, the new one makes her one of the best age 2 advisor in a lot of scenario.

Yes, new Amunet is no longer "Extremely strong in these fairly niche quests" and is now "Extremely strong almost all of the time".

However, I feel that it will have a detrimental impact to players attempting the City Conquests quests as Egypt, since she was just so strong, and Egypt units for that quest are so weak.

So Amunet the Wise was fairly niche before, but she was extremely powerful in the City Defense/Conquest quest series, as it allowed you to get fully upgraded in half the time, leading to strong swings. As Egyptians have fairly weak units in the City Conquest/Defense mode (Axeman/Slingers are fairly weak without their Champion upgrades, and Camels aren't quite as strong as Horsemen), I felt that Amunet helped them to overcome their unit weakness in these modes. Very sad to see it gone.

Yep,

At first, I was also quite disapointed but as for me, it looks like the "broken" advantage from
Amunet was just psycholigical as i didn't suffer that much to complete city conquest with another advisor.

I can confirm that Lord Eochaid isn't working in those quests. I'll report the bug and see if it can be looked into

Genuinely astounded at the sheer amount of amazing content you guys pull out continously, hats off to all of you.

Though as I read all these changes, I can't help but feel my LMCG will be very outdated and need to be changed lol :D, but its a good thing, excited for romans :)

LMCG? What's that? :)

Nice work :)

These "Some Fun Stats!" intrigues me:)

Is there some kind of joke about "Really Tasty Carrot" :)

How many players are registered ?

Very nice, thanks a lot for keeping this game up to date and interesting to play. Also the new advisors make a lot of different fun ideas.

I like the Bahram kind of advisor, the "IF wonder -> Bonus". I've thought about that before but never said anything, now when I see one I wanna say:
MAKE ONE SUCH FOR EACH CIV PLZZ!!! :D

I suggested a while back about having Wonder give bonuses in PvE quests to gives players a bit of "oomph" to help finish the quest, but it was shot down some of the higher powers around here. Bahram is a half-step there, but eh.

Well, since Wonders is of no use at all, and many games have time restrictions it would both add some use for them as well as not even potentially harm especially much. If anything I'd say it would be just another of many bonuses to all others that comes from:

gear+gear+gear+gear+milestone+milestone+milestone+milestone+milestone+milestone+milestone+milestone+milestone+milestone+advisor+advisor+advisor+advisor

...so how much could really MINUS 1x advisor of the above and +1 wonder do? I mean, you also have to REMOVE one of the regular Age 4 advisors to get it, and they are generally the strongest ones.

If anything it would need to be extra powerful due to just this and the need of putting ALOT of resourses as well as time to build to get the bonus in map.

Your suggestion to make the wonders even without the advisors I support as an alternative to this also, anyone is fine by me - but if it is through an advisor it REALLY should be something extra.

Another option could be to have a small bonus from the wonder in itself, and advisors that add to it.

I strongly vote to make wonder-related bonuses a thing anyhow, in some shape or form.

Does Beorix's poison stack?
I do know that the poison from the Celtic Gaesatae does NOT stack in any way, merely refreshes itself, and the poison from the Hero Unit in the City Conquest also does not stack. The fire from Norse Fortresses also does not stack.

I would assume that it behaves just like all these other DoTs in that it doesn't stack, which would mean it's main value isn't from it's damage output (Since you would only need something like 5 Harjars and micro em to keep it up on a good number of units) but instead it's ability to "Crowd Control" enemy units - Units that suffer from a Damage over Time effect (Poison or Fire) will run around doing nothing if they are unable to immediately hit something.

It makes the Gaesatae fairly powerful despite being an advisor unit since you can simply kite most units and armies to death using their poison - You hit the front row, run away, and then the units in the front row run around doing nothing for the 8 seconds it takes for the poison to end. Repeat until everything is dead - It's fairly fun in the City Conquest/City Defense in which you can't just make a large deathball and roll everything over, and you aren't facing huge armies either.

Sadly, I feel that Beorix was much better in both of his previous iterations compared to the current iteration. Harjar's are more about their extreme tankiness then about their damage, and while the current iteration of Beorix basically doubles a single Harjar's damage output, it doesn't double the damage output of a Harjar army.
