pvp rating system

Hi!

Can someone explain to me how the pvp rating system works? For example, in the leading board, I see players with fewer wins and more losses than me but with a higher rating, so how does it work?

It is based on the elo system. If you beat players who has low elo then you dont gain as much as if you beat someone with 1800+.
