I like the lower times suggestion. I say keep it in mind devs...plus you forgot the OTHER materials that are required for crafting. It's not just the 900 Epics, it's also the Advanced Materials, and Legendary Recipes require 400 and an additional 200 materials each with only 2 workshops...

1. use "Empire Consumables" (from your Home City shop), such as Labor of the Empire, Resources of the Empire or Wisdom of the Empire to make Leveling up quicker. Or use the "skip quest" feature. You can complete the Fertile Crescent quests (babylon), which are easy and pay out good XP. or...

Dang, that's crazy. Seems the % of lost coins varies from time to time; 1.6%, 19%, .5%, 9%... It's too bad that we have no official updates on this bug. Maybe it calculates what the winner invested, or maybe the number of players who played that week, or it just dislikes some players =)
