i know they are basically clones of main ones, but would be cool to train those exclusive units

What units are there other than the clubmen? Not hating, just genuinely can't think of others, other than the craftsmen that use villager skin. Would be cool if they could be used on future quest expansions in quests that force you to play a specific civ. I don't know whether or not there's cosmetic sets to change units to look like them, but that's also another option.

The Badari has its own Fortress, Barrack, Arcery Range, and House model too. And we have some other factions in Greek and Celt campaigns.
Mycenaeans
Toxotes, Hoplite, Hypaspist

Barbarians
Clubman, Spearman, War Leader

Sadly, all of them are enemies. But we met one ally faction in the game: the Nubians. This faction has Warrior (Spearman), Archer, Chieftain (use light spear and shield) and Elephant Rider (War Elephant). In Nubian Expedition, Chieftain Molmot give you a quest called "Repairing under fire" when you can control his units. And as you can see in the video, they have their own Town Center, Barrack and House model. Sadly, its not a repeatable quest. :(

It would be nice to see some repeatable "Raiding" type quest(s) with these afro guys against the Badari. ;)

You can currently play as these minor factions in offline mode but unfortunately a lot of hotkeys don't work by default. I don't know if it's possible to map hotkeys by editing files or something, never tried that.

As in if you make offline mode scenarios you can pick sea people/barbarians/mycenaea/etc as faction options? What's in their tech trees? The full/near full contents of the civ they're based off plus the unique units, or just the unique units plus barracks, dock, tc, vills?

When playing quests in offline mode you can choose already existing .character files used for the AI in some quests. I tried a barbarian one and they're mostly the same as greeks but some buildings have different models, there are different units in the barracks and instead of balistas they have access to a catapult with 5 splash damage area instead of the usual 3. The one I tried only had the barbarian unique units in the barracks (no spearmen etc) and the usual spearman/hypaspist/hoplite upgrades were there but obviously they were useless.

Thanks heaps for the input hey!
Would it be possible to edit the upgrades and/or fill out the tech tree a little more (keep the +5 splash ballistas though please!) It'd be cool to get the hotkeys working too, how could we go about something like this for the offline mode?

I’m not sure on the details of offline mode or quest triggers, but I suppose it could be possible to cobble together some kind of Frankenstein tech tree.

I sure would like to use the scenario editor but ....

https://forums.projectceleste.com/threads/possible-strange-behaviour-of-editor.3994/#post-6622

I have weird problems , must be my rig ...https://forums.projectceleste.com/threads/what-are-the-specs-to-run-offline-editor.3993/

I can use the one that is "work in progress" but not for characters for some reason ... shame really ... have to wait for Xmas LoL

@Flutters how can you make your own char set like your post ??

I'm not sure what you mean. Currently the only way to edit .character files is by manually using a text editor, and as far as I know they can only be used for quests so you would also need to make a quest besides the scenario itself. Scenarios are more limited, for example you can't choose a specific civ before playing them unlike quests.

Not on steam - and I tried with Vbox box too :-(

I probably can't help you with anything further software related, beyond suggesting reinstalls but it sounds like you've tried multiple ways of doing that already :( I take it the driver update didn't work either? If you are meeting requirements but you're unable to run it off a fresh, uncorrupted install I'd suggest cleaning and reseating RAM and GPU, but you're on a laptop :(
