Hello Everyone!

I made an RPG styled scenario in the Age of Empires Online Celeste Editor. It was fun to make but also a lot of work!

It tells a story about a hero's life, getting stronger, exploring the world. It has an working leveling system.

The challenge starts now and end at 28th of february 00:00:00 CET. The player with the best time reached in this scenario with all the primary and secondary objectives done, no matter if it is discovered or not, but must have all the checkmarks at least, wins.

Requirements:
  1. The scenario is only playable in the scenario editor, because you have to be player 1 to actually play it.
  2. You have to make an video via OBS or other software capturing.
  3. Nothing can be changed in the scenario, trigger etc.
  4. You have to reach the end as Achilles with all objectives done, does not matter if its undiscovered, as long as it is checked.
The prices are:


1. Place

5 million coins
Level 39 King Minos' Radiant Shield: 7.7 % HP + 18,8% inf. armor
Level 39 Agamemnon's Heavy Spear: 71.1% Dmg + 18.2% inf. bonus damage
Level 39 Perseus' Horse Bow: 43.9% Dmg + (-2.3% cost)

2. Place

2.5 million coins
Level 39 King Minos' Radiant Shield: 7.6% HP + 18.5% inf. armor

3. Place

1.25 million coins

There is only one ranking per player allowed, e. g. one player can be 1. Place and noone else brought up a video, then only 1. Place will be valid.

If noone is interested in the contest, then i will upload a video myself at the end of the challenge.

There is one intended way to do the scenario and it is not easy to reach the best ending, especially as Achilles.

There are some technical issues to remember: Some triggers only work if you stand 2-3 seconds near like to a flag or a trophy to collect things. Flags are important! There are a lot of hints in the scenario but it does not make everything obvious. Make sure to be a bit patient.

I put a lot of time, work and love into this scenario, nevertheless i am also happy to take advise or suggestions for improvement! I was the only tester, so i am not 100% sure if its bugfree or you can break the scenario if you try to break it.

It is important to keep the hero into a control group with strg + 1!

Have fun with the scenario, it is actually challenging but also a lot of fun to play, even if you do not want to participate in the contest!

Just to clearify: No consumables or advisors are allowed. I am not sure anyway how to use them in a scenario. In game time will be the valid time for the run, so make sure to activate the time with F11.

I added some soundtracks, so music on would be more appealing, as well as "do not show health bar" options.

So, we have a Rank 1 right now: Smiga completed 100% and reached the end as Achilles! with a time of 37:38 min!
 
My Run, it's actually something like a 29:24 on the timer, I just went by the video length. Nonetheless great challenge, really enjoyed it, would love to see some more stuff in the future!

I decide to give the challenge one more week, this will be the one and only time the date will be expanded. Challenge ends now at END of sunday 08th of march 00:00 GTM.

I hope to find a 3th place or third contestant!

Update: Fixed a critical bug that tributes do not work in custom scenario.

The file has to be put into:
C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\ProjectCeleste\Scenario

Or if you installed it via steam:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age Of Empires Online\Scenario

And now it can be played in Offline Mode - custom scenarios.

Great quality RPG story! It must have taken a long time to make this...

After some initial bumps and bruises, I managed to get a run out, but the time wasn't exactly speedrun worthy, so I ran it again. My attempt can be viewed in the video below.

Yea was quite a struggle to make it for me because i am not an editor expert, but slowly i am getting the hang out of it. Was a great run!

1.2 Version
  • Changed the design choice of a forced death in the desert. Now you don’t have an extra life but the walking trap at the daemon to force a death is disabled.

  • Changed the design choice so that the gate to Golden City is now locked behind the daemon tounge and Achilles have to be level 7, which is about 90%+ of all enemies to this point.

  • All enemies give XP now, including crocodiles and wolfs, mammuth. (Camels and gazelles give no XP).

  • Additional enemies in the desert.
  • Desert boss fight units have more HP but the position is changed so the boss can be hit easier.

  • Added barricades in Australia to make it more challenging. Barricades will selfdestruct if the enemies nearby are defeated.

  • All healers now have an instant heal if stand nearby indicated by an highlighted Achilles.

  • Start with an additional default health regen of 2.5 HP/s.

  • No forced standings in cutscenes, besides in trance at Uluru.
  • Significant shorter trance time.

  • Ship enemies including ship boss nerfed and location changed to avoid uneccessary backtravelling.

  • Changed most of the message boxes to overlay text, to avoid overlayed text with objective.

  • Outlaw Larry changed from a spearman to an champion that gets healed by the Outlaw Brian.

  • Various changes to avoid sound overlays.
