    Hi
    Strange problem on laptop

I have an Asus Laptop :
    Code:
    Processor
         Intel® Core™ i5 (8. Generation) 8265U
clock frequency 4x 1,60 GHz TurboBoost 3.90 GHz
          Cache 6 MB Whiskey Lake

Graphic card: Intel® UHD Graphics 620

    RAM: 8 GB DDR4 SODIMM

DiskDrive: SSD 512 GB PCI Express 3.0 (x4)
    OS: WIN10

    So I checked the specs
    • Processor: Dual Core, 2Ghz or higher
    • Video card: 128 MB Shader 2 supported card or higher
    • Memory: Win XP SP3/Vista Home Basic – 1GB; Vista Premium, Ultimate/Windows 7 (32 bit) – 1.5GB; Windows 7 (64 bit) – 2.5GB
    • Hard drive space: 5 GB required for downloads
My Laptop should be Ok or ????

Anyway, Installed game and happy me it works , but after starting a quest, it plays nicely until maybe 3-4-5 mins the Lpatop is off .. like a shut down ???

    Quite off power down ...

    I don't get it ??
    Nay ideas

I suggest you seek help from AoEO discord channel. As far as I know, the developers and other staff at Celeste project are active there, but seem to not interact with forums sadly.

Maybe overheating triggering a protective shutdown.

Try taking the battery out and running off the lead without it in, if you've had it in but been using the lead. Otherwise yeh prob cooling related. Get a laptop fan stand maybe, or get the internal fans looked at?

Download the free stress test program Prime95 and give it a run.
This makes the CPU / ram work hard and hence become warmer.
if your problem is heat related then this will cause the same cut out problems you see when running AoEO therefore proving the cause as thermal related.

Usually with laptops a layer of dust stopping airflow through the CPU's cooling radiator is the problem.

No don't be running prime 95 on a system you already suspect is overheating, you're just cooking it more than any game will.

Buy yourself some compressed air and give the vents a good once over and use your laptop on a hard flat surface so it can vent properly.

Is the cooling fan still functioning? (can you see/hear it moving) No fan lasts forever, if the fan fails your laptop will just fall over when it's put under strain. If it's shutting off due to heat, time to get it in the repair shop or look at some DIY level cleanup/repair. Surprised the Intel chip didn't just downclock to cope, but at least it didn't just let itself fry.
