Game does not start - d3dx9_40.dll not found

When i try to start the game an error dialogue appears that complains about a missing file d3dx9_40.dll. It suggests to reinstall the game, which i did several times but the error shows up again every time. Please help.

Its missing DirectX 9, you can use this web installer to fix issue

Thank you very much, installation of this web installer helped, i needed to use the windows feature helper to fix directx afterwards. The game is running now, i am happy Thanks again.

Agree. Perhaps your PC is set to direct 10 or 11, and you are given a window that a newer time is installed. The game, in this case, can only work at 9 (I had this problem with Skyrim for example). You'll have to delete 10 \ 11 to install 9, then reinstall 10/11.
