Nothing said it would be limited to civ-specific advisors. Lohrasb is still constantly selling for 100k+ as an epic, and even advisors like Boudicca constantly sell for above 20k epic. Not to mention, any time devs let players practically create their own gear, it is ripe for balance problems.

It would kind of add a card collecting element to AoE, which would be welcomed!

Suggestion from Tim - Have Princess Tamineh, Persia A3 advisor, also allow Caravans to be affected by Paid Labor.

we need more creative advisor ideas, even if not technically useful in many quests.

for example, Chief Vemundr giving a bonus to war dogs is an awesome and very divergent from the meta playstyle on the norse. with the right setup your wardogs suddenly become relevant and quite powerful, especially since the norse outpost gives so much map control.

Stuff like that completely changes the meta in some missions and adds to the fun.

Collecting aspect seems really interesting but should not give too strong advantages, like its capped if you have 5 or so, or an cosmetic change

Seth the Chariot Builder - Chariot Archers move 20% faster and can attack and see 20% farther, Camel Riders have 30% more Health, Pierce Armor, and Damage

This suggestion is intended to support a fast combo of tanky camel riders supported by strong chariot archers.

Sesostris Rework - Slingers are 70% more resistant to melee-infantry, melee-cavalry, crush and splash damage and attack 100% faster.

Priests are not an extremely popular unit in general, and making the only A4 priest advisor egypt exclusive doesn't help their use rates. Add on top of 5 stars always having a no priest optional and it's easy to see why he is an unpopular advisor. This rework aims to make Slingers a lethal mid-range tank that also dish out significant damage.

However, to compensate, his benefits (except pop reduction) will be moved onto a new advisor, and with more boosts!

Age 4 Priest advisor - Priests convert, heal, and see 50% farther. Temples cost 50% less and build in 50% less time.

After testing Pytheas, on some quests (paint the town dead, vile isle), the economic boost granted by Pytheas is so great that he lets you attack 1-2 minutes earlier. If he is moved to Age 2, that economic boost can no longer stack with Perikles and he would likely be a forgotten advisor.

It's quite OBVIOUS what the underperforming advisors need.

Lucky Lookout Leucon - Despite being named LUCKY, he doesn't boost critical strike damage nor critical chances for his scouts! Just let him add crit chances to buildings and scouts!

Odysseus - Barracks, Castellums, Archery Ranges, Auxilia Camps, and Siege Workshops cost 15% less and build 15% faster OR
Odysseus - Barracks and Castellums cost 15% less, build 15% faster, and work 10% harder (athenian training manual applied for free)

Rockhound Erastos - Villagers gather Stone 25% faster, Chisel, Stone Saw, and Stone Splitting are granted for free (even if the civ doesn't have access to it). Stone trickle at a rate of 0.4/0.6/0.8/1 per second.

Prince Niall Muighmedon - Storehouses and Ox Carts cost 45%/55%/65%/75% less and build in 20%/30%/40%/50% less time. Storehouse upgrades research in 50%/60%/70%/80% less time.

Closet Organizer Irene - Storehouse and workboat upgrades cost 45%/55%/65%/75% less.

Fisherman Finnbar - Fishing Boats cost 50% less, gather 20% faster and have 25% conservation. Allows Net Weights and Net Landline to be researched.

Grand Magistrate Diviciacus - Sacred Groves cost 50% less and spawn a free Sacred Deer every 30/25/20/15 seconds. Cooldown of Rites reduced by 10%/15%/20%/25%.

Or the strength of the rite increases by 10/15/20/25%. Imagine a near 20% damaggio boost to the celts. NOICE

Herbal Healer Hyginus - Infantry units regenerate 0.5/1.0/1.5/2 health every second and have 2%/3%/4%/5% more health.

Trainer Conall - Military units regenerate 0.4/0.8/1.2/1.6 health every second.

Courageous Colonel Lycurgus - Infantry units are 15%/20%/25%/30% more resistant to melee-cavalry damage. Spearmen and Hoplites are 15%/20%/25%/30% more resistant to splash damage.

Camel Rider Userhet - Camel Riders deal 30% bonus damage against cavalry units and are 30% more resistant to melee-cavalry damage. Camel Riders can be championed again (???) in the Golden Age.

General Seneb - Siege Towers grant 15%/20%/25%/30% bonus damage against buildings in an area of effect to friendly units.

Royal Treasurer Bardiya - Buildings build in 25%/30%/35%/40% less time but cost 6%/9%/12%/15% more. War Academy cost 40%/50%/60%/70% less.

Grand Scholar Ormazdiyar - All upgrades research in 60% less time but cost 12% more. Can be toggled off in War Academy.

Supply Line Specialist Servilia - Millariums also increase Villagers, Caravans, Work Boats, and Merchant Transports movement speed by 6%/9%/12%/15%. Millariums cost 45%/55%/65%/75% less and build in 20%/30%/40%/50% less time.
This is a weird advisor that doesn't really do much because it requires 10 seconds of your engineer and 25 wood in a tiny radius if applicable. Having them be built faster and costing less should halve the burden and compete with Dumonix better as well as having it apply to civilian ships help millarium strategic positioning.

    Retracted for this bottom thread.

Senator Octavius - Auxilia Camp units and upgrades cost 8%/12%/16%/20% less and train/research in 8%/12%/16%/20% less time.

Lucius Licinius Lucullus - Decurions and Eques have 8%/12%/16%/20% more health.
There is a surprising lack of advisors that buff another part of Roman gameplay (officers)

Gladius The Glorious - Scorpios have +1 Area Damage, deal 10%/15%/20%/25% more damage and move 6%/9%/12%/15% faster.
    Retracted cuz no longer needed

Admiral Atilius - Ennerises attack 10%/15%/20%/25% faster and 6%/9%/12%/15% further.
Retracted cuz of how busted they are

Mark Antony - Gallic Horsemen deal 8%/12%/16%/20% more damage and move 5%/6%/7%/8% faster.

Makru the Mad Median - All Military units deal 10%/15%/20%/25% bonus damage against buildings. Royal Guard Champion Upgrade no longer debuffs damage vs buildings.

General Zu - Royal Guards are 10%/20%/30%/40% more resistant to bonus damage, move 6%/9%/12%/15% faster, and cost 8%/12%/16%/20% less.

Harjar Commander Håvard - Harjars are 20%/25%/30%/35% more resistant to pierce damage and construct buildings 55%/70%/85%/100% faster.
This change makes them on-par with villagers with no construction speed stat.

Grand Chef Bjørn - Spearmen and Throwing Axemen have 6%/9%/12%/15% more health, deal 6%/9%/12%/15% more damage, and regenerate 0.5/1.0/1.5/2.0 health per second.
    Retracted damn this guy strong.

I think most of these Advisors don't need an additional buff tbh.

I'm more biased on the Roman advisors because most people default back to generic advisors rather than using civ-specific advisor especially in niche situations.

This proves why we should never let Tim govern balancing affairs, they believe in buffing already solid advisors to absurdity.

    and most importantly

Celestial Magus Mehrab - Priest units heal and convert 20% faster. Priest of Set corrupts 8%/12%/16%/20% faster.
    Possible bug fix?

Mehrab does affect Priest of Set.

after using the advisors/buying them on GM

Lucky Lookout Leucon - Scouts move 6%/9%/12%/15% faster and see 6%/9%/12%/15% farther, build 55%/70%/85%/100% faster and have 20%/30%/40%/50% more health, buildings can attack and see 6%/9%/12%/15% farther.
The change would affect Town Center, Guard Towers, and Fortress primarily but would help with Leucon's theme of "looking out" by being able to attack further from their starting bases.
    OR
Lucky Lookout Leucon - Scouts move 6%/9%/12%/15% faster and see 6%/9%/12%/15% farther, build 55%/70%/85%/100% faster, have 20%/30%/40%/50% more health, and may construct Guard Towers. Buildings see 6%/9%/12%/15% farther.
Would be useful as the scout serves as a non-Roman engineer that can build towers faster than a villager.

Prince Niall Muighmedon - Storehouses and Ox Carts cost 45/%55%/65%/75% less, build in 20%/30%/40%/50% less time, and have 20%/30%/40%/50% more health. Storehouses and Ox Carts can garrison 10 Villagers.
If Niall Muighmedon is in the interest of improving the micro of multiple storehouses and ox carts. Their ability to garrison villagers and be more durable can help with forward bases. As well as watching an ox cart delivering 18 villagers to every deposit beautifully.

Odysseus - Barracks and Castellums cost 15% less and build in 15% less time. Barrack and Castellum upgrades cost 15% less and research 15% faster.
Follows the balance approach to Penny-Pincher Kleitos' buffs.

Queen Cartimandua - Druids and Augurs train in 20%/27%/34%/40% less time and have 20%/27%/34%/40% more health. Druid grants a stronger damage buff by +2%/3%/4%/5%.
Helps to promote more druid micro through increasing the damage that'll help Celtic army output more damage crazily.
    OR
Queen Cartimandua - Druids and Augurs train in 20%/27%/34%/40% less time and have 20%/27%/34%/40% more health. Druid gain +1/1/2/2 Area Heal.
Useful when you don't want Druids to be in the frontline too much during a bowman spam as they can cover more in an area.

Princess Tahmineh - Caravans carry 15%/20%/25%/30% more gold, Coinage and Price Adjusting upgrades are granted for free. Grants 150/200/250/300 Gold.
If the Paid Labor affecting Caravans is too troublesome to code or even too strong, having Tahmineh grant gold upon researching Age 3 would synergize with how she gets Coinage and Price Adjusting for free. Get to buying some resources with her or using the gold for Paid Labor!
    OR
Princess Tahmineh - Caravans carry 15%/20%/25%/30% more gold, Coinage and Price Adjusting upgrades are granted for free. -8/12%/16%/20% buy/sell penalty
This equates to a 0.28 buy/sell penalty on epic rarity for comparison, the roman gets 0.3 and default civ gets 0.36 buy/sell penalty.

Specialist Servilia - Millariums also increase Villagers, Caravans, Work Boats, and Merchant Transports movement speed by 6%/9%/12%/15%. Millariums cost 45%/55%/65%/75% less and build in 20%/30%/40%/50% less time.
This is a weird advisor that doesn't really do much because it requires 10 seconds of your engineer and 25 wood in a tiny radius if applicable. OR
Supply Line Specialist Servilia - Millariums also increase Villagers, Caravans, Work Boats, and Merchant Transports movement speed by 6%/9%/12%/15%. Forum technologies cost 10%/15%/20%/25% less.
People don't really build forums at age 2 surprisingly. 175 wood/gold is a strong early drain that can cripple market eco and early storehouse upgrades. I suggest this change to help.
Edit: Did you know? Servillia right now buffs work boats and merchant transports as well?

Suggested Crassus rework - Crassus no longer reduces population cost of Officers, but instead doubles Officer limit, encouraging a large officer mass with backline support.

If we rework the advisors, then we have to make the missions harder. OOF

    Ok, so..

1: There have been multiple advisor reworks in the past. Missions have not been made harder with all the past reworks.
2: There are a number of "Strong, pick this advisor if you use this build" that don't need buffs. The idea is to make it so that more advisors are at this level, instead of being extremely niche if used at all.

Thus, we have both precedence of a rework not causing the difficulty of missions to increase, and a current power ceiling to aim for overall.

So instead of being like a rabbit, frightened at the slightest change, how about you share your thoughts on which Advisors you feel you would never, ever use? Or your thoughts on which advisors you use all the time, every time?
