Quests stats shows number of units instead of total population

See attached screenshot, I was player 2. The text states that the chart is for total population, but it looked like it's the total number of units instead, which is much less useful. I was building elephants the whole time, and my population never dipped below 150 after the initial boom. At the end of the quest, I have 40 caravans and 40 elephants, so it showed 80 units instead of 200 pop.
