Hello everybody, I have some issue while launching the game. After the launcher's verification, which lead me to the game scan, it is impossible to extract the xlive.dll. I tried to install it throught windows live setup but it also consider the real dll as corrupted one. I have installed everything needed linked by the reddit topic and tried the operations with both steam method and external installer.

I link some screenshot to help understanding my problem :

When I clicked on the Play button:

When the game scan failed :

Thank you in advance for your help !

Hello! Someone posted this in the discord too. (It might of been you, I cannot remember)

Here are some things I suggest you try:

Manual update to the latest version of the launcher. You can follow my video here to do so.

Check all antiviruses you use, and exclude the following directories:
    (Where you installed the game)
    %userprofile%\Documents\Spartan
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp

(You can enter these paths into the WIN+R dialog to find them)

The issue is, I do not know of any go-to fix for this problem, and I do not see this issue often.

Hi again ! I tried your solution with a fresh install (thanks to steam for the backup option). It appears it was my antivirus (BitDefender) which was blocking the temp folder.

Now I have a non-authorized access error, could you indicate which folder is concerned ? Thank you

Ah, so you use steam? In the game's folder, delete "steam_api.dll"

Okay, i finally found the problem. BitDefender is considering xlive.dll as a virus and it's preventing user to copy a file with the same name to the folder which was detected. The launcher is downloading a custom xlive.dll to the Age of Empire Online folder so it is needed to add an antivirus exception for this folder too.

Thank you again for the help i would never thought BitDefender was the issue.

    Np,

In this, I said to exclude the game's folder, so that should have fixed it? Just trying to narrow it down some for myself.

Oh I missed the line with the installation folder, sorry. So yeah it fixes the issue.

In my case I haven't added the exception for the Spartan folder and it works however.
