    [Tournament finished]Gerda's Gauntlet - a 2-day tournament

I have to admit, I am skeptical of all these folks who've never posted on the forums and who I've never seen on the leaderboards signing up for the tourney. Does the prospect of a low level tourney really attract that much immediate attention from low-level players? Or do we have some folks...

Weekly Blog #11: Spearman, Battering Ram, Siege Workshop

That makes sense! I guess it is a fairly unique introduction to AoEO--that is, the upgrading of a building from one "type of building" to an "enhanced" type of building, not just from Age to Age. I could be wrong--am I forgetting another example? Nevertheless, the important nature of the...

Weekly Blog #11: Spearman, Battering Ram, Siege Workshop

I love the simple yet satisfying design of the Roman ram! In fact, it may now be my favorite ram. Although, I must say.... I, for one, was on board with the idea that "Romans were conquerors" and therefore their military and fortification buildings were "less permanent," e.g. glorified tents...

    Celeste Map Pack #2

He's biased because he kicked my tail on it. ;) Jk. It was awesome! The tweaks are minor enough to make it feel like we haven't lost Black Forest, but good enough to alleviate the concerns of Black Forest (too crowded/passive of a game, etc.). In fact, the game was over early due to Andy's good...

Weekly Blog #10: Forum, Cretan Bowman, Armory

While I would love to have more units just like everyone else, you can't over-saturate the game with units (and especially one civ), and I don't think advisor units are the answer to that; advisor units seem like a half-assed cop out, and you might as well say the units aren't in the game. I'd...

The near complete Roman town is looking amazing!! Buffed villagers for Romans? Or unique villager unit?? Stronger economy and stronger siege... Rome is definitely shaping up to be a juggernaut. Age 2 cav is an anti-cav Cav? Can't wait to see more reveals, keep it up guys!

Design Blog #2: Unit Design Theory

Cool ideas, FFNEZ! I think they're focusing on just getting the civ out to us (enough work in and of itself), but I'm sure some maps and more content (possibly quest packs) will be in order on down the road after 2019 once we get the Romans themselves!

Design Blog #2: Unit Design Theory

So much good stuff to cover! First, I want to say this--everyone working on this is doing an amazing job (especially given the fact that there is no immediate monetary compensation--just great experience). Every single individual person who plays this game is going to have their own individual...

Weekly Blog #9: Centurion 3D, Age II Walls, Merchant Transport

PF2K, well done on the merchant transport! Looks slick. Centurion also looks great with the legendary gear! I'm curious to see without the legendary gear, too... I'm kinda weird in that, a lot of times, I kinda like the ungeared look of units the best, except maybe for a legendary weapon thrown...

Weekly Blog #8: Fortress, Praetorium, Centurion

Andy, your last point about combining Centurions and Legionnaires is exactly what I was thinking... When you put both together, you get "everything" that we're looking for historically--the pilum throw and the charge. Regarding AoEO as historical, it is obvious that it is a combination of...

Little things that have a HUGE impact in the game

Agreed. I dunno how deep that stuff is in the code, so it may be unchangeable (or very difficult, and thus low priority since it has low impact relative to things like PvP balance, new content, new civs), but if it is possible, it would be nice!

Weekly Blog #7: Dock, Fishing Boat, Roman Wood

Love the Roman wood choice! And also the eagle design on the boat sail. Both very... Roman-y. Austere, I would say. Befitting a proper Roman empire!
